The intimate black tie affair features the gold medal winning wines from the San Antonio Wine Competition as well as outstanding foreign vintners guaranteed to stir one’s palate.

Taking place in the beautiful Hill Country, the ambience of the Wine Opener matches the pristine landscapes of the surrounding area. Upon entering the ballroom, you will see rows of seemingly never-ending scrumptious cuisine, along with a forest of wine bottles waiting to be uncorked and served.

Entertainment will be provided by Henry Brun and the Latin Playerz. This popular Latin jazz ensemble plays a cavalcade of Latin styles, ranging from the slow tempo of a Cuban cha-cha, and the more upbeat mambo, to the conga and rumba, guaguanco, and merengue rhythms.

The intimate gathering also allows for groups and individuals to network and socialize. The common bond in this experience is enjoying the serene atmosphere and exquisite food and drink, and you never know who you’ll run into or meet. Old acquaintances are ready to be renewed and new relationships are ready to be built.

As for the food ... grilled or fried, sautéed or baked, there is a wide-variety of styles to choose from. Ranging from seafood entrees to delicious desserts, there is always something available that is guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds.

Only the best will do for the Wine Opener, and to live up to that promise, this inaugural event of the San Antonio Wine Festival is your key to experiencing gold medal winning wines from the San Antonio Wine Competition. Whether you are a wine aficionado or a novice sampler, the Wine Opener has wines from every country to meet your mood, taste, and experience.

Another benefit is that this event is a perfect complement to the Valentine’s Day weekend. This formal affair and hybrid of excellent food and fine wine in south Texas’ Hill Country is sure to ignite a romantic spark.
